This blog is an attempt to provide an outlet for my occasional needs to express myself in more than 140 characters or the length of a Facebook post/comment, and also to give me some hands-on training in website design using the most popular Content Management System on the web. I chose a self-hosted instance instead of going with WordPress.com (see here for more details if you’re also thinking of taking the plunge) because I wanted more flexibility with regard to plugin selection, custom themes, etc, the better to really learn the ins and outs of the platform. I’ve done a lot of campaign work in the past and I fully intend to continue doing a lot of campaign work in the future, so my aspirational goal is to be able to set up and manage a professional-looking campaign website starting from scratch.
You can get a general sense for the type of information I’m consuming by checking out my blogroll on the right-hand side (all daily reads via RSS) and the people I follow on Twitter; this is my first attempt at blogging, though, so I can’t offer much guidance as far as what to expect to see in this space, except to say that it won’t be explicitly work-related. More soon.
